Junior Game
Our Junior team took on Allen Gaels in Division 4 of the League on Sunday afternoon in Ballinaglera. After a hard fought encounter Allen Gaels ran out winners on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-8.

50/50 Draw
Our monthly 50/50 club draw took place on Saturday night last in McHughs in Glenfarne. The winners were as follows: €160 Teresa McManus, East Bars €80 Carmel McLoughlin, Laughty; €30 Maureen McTeirnan, Glencar. Well done to our winners and thanks to everyone for their continued support of the draw. Thank you to Ben and Susie for the use of their premises for the draw.

Congratulations
Congratulations to former treasurer Chris Broughton and wife Eithne on the birth of a baby son recently. We wish the new arrival health and happiness in the future.

Disco
The club are holding a disco on this Saturday night 1st November in the Bee Park Resource Centre. Music on the night is with DJ Dave. We hope to see you all there on the night.

Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday goes to former play Pat McDermott who celebrated his 40th birthday recently.

Sympathy
The club extends its deepest sympathy to the Gilgunn family on the recent death of Willie Kelly. May he rest in peace.

Junior League
Well done to our Junior team on their victory over Sean O'Heslins on Saturday evening in Division 4 of the league. W ran out winners on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-10. Our next game in this group is against Allen Gaels on Sunday at 2.30pm in Ballinagleara.

Senior League
We are due to play St.Marys in a Senior League game in Carrick on Shannon on Monday at 2.30pm. Please check fixtures for confirmation of time and venue.

50/50 Draw
Our monthly 50/50 club draw will take place in McHughs on this Saturday night. Tickets are available from all club players and officials.

Sympathy
Sympathy is extended to Eugene Gallagher and family, Kiltyclogher on the recent death of Eugene's aunt. Sympathy is also extended to the family and friends of the late Lorcan Rooney, Cornmore. May they rest in peace.

Best Wishes
Best Wishes go to Jim and Assumpta Clancy who officially open their restaurant in Glenfarne on this coming Saturday. Everyone at the club wishes them every success with the restaurant.

Match Report

Mohill through to play off

Mohill qualified for the Masonite Senior One B league play offs when they defeated a defiant Glenfarne/Kilty in an exhilarating clash played in Glenfarne on Saturday evening last.

Mohill 1-10 Glenfarne/Kilty 0-8

Preceding this tie, Mohill were completely out of the play-off race, but with Bornacoola and Aughavas pulling off surprise wins at the weekend, Mohill needed a win to secure a late qualifying spot, however, they were made to fight for their victory as a depleted Glenfarne/Kilty pushed their counterparts to the very end.

Despite their exuberant pressure, Glenfarne/Kilty could simply not match Mohill for their sheer resourceful power and strength in attack, notching over the scores when required.

When Glenfarne/Kilty looking dangerous in attack, Mohill produced the ultimate goods on the 48th minute when Seamus McCrann scored a wonderful goal following superb interplay from his forward line. It was the score that effectively killed the game as a contest as Glenfarne/Kilty could not find the key to unlock the physical superiority of the Mohill defence to force a late comeback.

A long range point by Seamus Dillon commenced proceedings in the opening minute of play, however, it was Mohill who took control of proceedings after this chalking up four unanswered points from Peter Gaffney, three from placed balls and a Shane Canning score on the 8th minute.

A 14m Michael Maguire free was the only reply Glenfarne/Kilty had but this was subsequently matched by three more Mohill scores, two Peter Gaffney frees and a Shane Canning point from play leaving Mohill with a five point advantage at 7 points to two.

Glenfarne/Kilty did manage to produce a late rally before the break, finding loopholes in the Mohill defence to bring just a solitary point between the sides at the interval thanks to points from Dermot O’Rourke, two Michael Maguire points and Diarmaid Keaney with the scoreboard reading 7 points to six.

Mohill exploded into the second half, not allowing Glenfarne/Kilty to settle, chalking over four unanswered points, two placed balls from Peter Gaffney and a Philip McGuinness free and Seamus McCrann also finding the target on the 36th minute.

For the following ten minutes, both sides failed to find the accuracy to take the game and with Glenfarne/Kilty pressing their counterparts, Mohill produced a spectacular passage of play in attack resulting in McCrann rocking the corner net on the 48th minute, leaving them with a seven point advantage and while Glenfarne/Kilty pressed forward all they could settle with was two consolation points from Dermot O’Rourke and Michael Maguire.
